NEWS Trinity Scholarship Winner Announced At Duke From the Duke News Service June 13, 2001 This year's winner of a Trinity Scholarship, an undergraduate merit award, has been announced by Duke University. The Trinity scholarships, valued at more than $130,000, are renewable for four years and cover the full cost of attending Duke, including tuition, room, board and stipends for travel or study abroad programs. They were established by Duke alumni to honor Duke's origins as Trinity College in Randolph County. Rachel Megan Hoffer of High Point was selected to receive this year's Herman W. Bernard Trinity Scholarship, awarded to one student from the greater High Point area. Hoffer, a graduate of High Point Central High School, is the daughter of Ava and David Hoffer. Rachel Hoffer has performed with the High Point Community Theater and served in the Guilford County Youth Summit, National Beta Club and the French Honor Society. She was also involved with the National Youth Leadership Forum on Law. Hoffer's academic interests include law, political science and psychology. |
